We hope you’ll
join us for our Sunday worship service to
see for yourself what we’re all about. Through
diverse music and practical messages we present
the truths of the Bible in a format that's
easy to understand, even if you've never been
to church.
When is
the best time to arrive?
We suggest
arriving 10-15 minutes early to allow for
parking -- conveniently provided on a number
of side streets surrounding the church.
Where do
I go?
It's an older
building, but don't let that intimidate you.
Simply walk up the steps (on Wilson Ave.).
Immediately, on your left is the children's
nursery. To the right, are the stairs leading
to the sanctuary.
What should
I wear?
A variety
of dress is appropriate at UBC. While some
dress up, many others dress casually. You
will see everything from sport coats to jeans.
What should
I bring?
If you have
a Bible, bring it. If not, no problem. We
project the Bible verses on a big screen for
everyone to see.
What happens
during the worship service?
Usually, after
a quick welcome, our service begins with worship
music, led by a band. Most people stand during
this time, however, there is complete freedom
to be seated if you prefer. The words of all
of the songs are projected onto a screen,
and you can either sing along or just sit
back and enjoy the music. You'll probably
hear songs you can relate to even if you haven't
been to church in years.
Then, like
most churches we take an offering. If you’re
a guest – relax! The worship service is "on
us" and there’s no obligation at all
on your part. Just pass the offering basket
on down the row -- really!
Next is the
weekly message, given by one of our pastors.
It's when we read the Bible together, consider
what God is saying, and apply it to our life.
Is it that
easy?
Definitely.
You won’t be asked to stand or raise your
hand (or anything else embarrassing) just
because you’re new. Nor will you have to recite
anything or kneel at certain times during
the service.
How long
does the service last?
The service
lasts approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes.
What about
after the service?
While it's
up to you, don't feel that you have to hurry
out the door. In fact, you may want to help
yourself to a cup of coffee, stop by the Welcome
Center, talk with one of the pastors, meet
some of our people, or check out some of the
ministry kiosks.
