Throughout
its history, Uptown Baptist church has been
known as one of the most active and giving
churches in the city of Chicago -- being recognized
by various public officials, including Chicago's
own Mayor Daley.
UBC's
community involvement is one of our most defining
features as a church. As senior pastor Michael
Allen says, "It's always been a part
of the church's DNA."
Outreach
takes on a variety of forms, times, and places.
Some of our outreach programs include:
Monday
Night Meal is an incredible outreach for
the poor and homeless in our community. On
average, we feed 300-500 people every Monday.
Through this program, we encourage the needy
and hurting to become part of our Christ-following
community.
Karate
Outreach
is a free program on Wednesday nights, where
children, youth, and adults can learn karate
in a Christian, faith-based setting. The purpose
is to learn some simple self-defense techniques,
but more importantly, learning what it means
to be a self-controlled and faithful believer.
